Crude Oil Distillation Systems
Numerous crude oils are investigated worldwide by laboratory distillation systems to determine the yields of the different type of fractions, which can be produced from the corresponding crude oil. The accuracy and reproducibility of the results are very important as they are not only compared internationally but are also used for the subsequent production in refineries.
To ensure such comparability the American Society for Testing and
Materials (ASTM) has determined procedures for the construction and
operation of such crude oil distillation systems, which are

ASTM D-2892
for distillation of crude petroleum under different pressure
conditions up to 420 °C AET

ASTM D-5236
for further fractionation of the remaining residues under different reduced pressure levels up to 565 °C AET
-
ASTM D-1160
for the determination of the range of boiling point for
petroleum products at red. pressures up to AET 600°C AET
A combination of ASTM D-2892 and D-5236 is also available as PETRODIST
400, offering a central control, vacuum and cooling supply for both
distillation parts.
PILODIST® offers furthermore a molecular still for further analysis of
heavy crude oil residues of up to 720 °C AET as well as a crude oil
pilot- and testing plant for studying purpose and for the simulation of
crude oil refineries operation.
PILODIST 254 has been designed as a crude oil pilot and testing plant
or for the simulation of a crude oil refinery in a continuous operation
mode.
All systems have been designed under the brand name PETRODIST® and are
available in manual or semi-automated (M) as well as fully automatic,
processer controlled (CC) versions.
Due to the modular design all systems can continuously be upgraded to
the latest state of technology. These upgrades are available not only
for existing PETRODIST® -systems wherever they are in operation but
also for other systems of different brands.
